We love staying at Montri Hotel in ChiangMai with its family atmosphere. The Friendly,English speaking staff cannot do enough to to help you. The Hotel's Brix restaurant serves excellent western and Thai food at very reasonable prices. Ideally located inside the old walled city on Rachadamnoen Rd, where the huge weekly Sunday walking street marked is held, with hundrets of stalls selling Hill-Tripa and Thai art, trinkets, clothing, paintings etc. Many of ChiangMai'smost significant temples are within easy walking distance as are many coffee shops and restaurants. The private ensuit rooms are large and comfortable with cable T.V. and A.C. The hotel provides 24hr.C.L.T.V. on all floors and provide a free safty deposit box for your convenience. Ideally situated for long and short term visitors to this lovely area of Thailand. Highly recomended by Myra and Ray Miller, Australia

We have traveled extensively in Thailand, it is almost 2nd home today. We have stayed in many different lodgings from the simplest to 5 star but the very best place is the Montri Hotel in ChiangMai. We came there, first time about 8 years ago and since then stay there a few months at the time. It is the most central place for everything, whatever happnes in ChiangMai is just at the door step. Its position just inside the gates of the old walls is unique. It is safe, comfortable and feel just like home. The staff go out of their way to help you and it is not expensive. What more can you wish for. - Oh, and they have a great restaurant The BRIX. We highly recomend it. Anne and Peter Hansen, Bundaberg, Australia

I have stayed at the Montri several times a year, every year, since 1996 and consider it almost a second home, with friendly staff who really care. It really is a good place to stay. Rooms are fairly basic and functional, but comfortable with good beds (do you really need more for a good sleep or other "activities"?!!!) Forget all the fancy hotels (and many not so fancy) that charge stupid money for WiFi and minibar drinks - rooms have WiFi at no extra charge and a beer from the minibar is 50 baht!!! The hotel is in a great great location and has a good restaurant. They now have a car park out front so the previous parking problems are no more. Long may the Montri continue as it is, quite simply one of the best hotels in Chiang Mai.
